Beste cricketers,
We mogen terugkijken op een goed jaar, in sportieve zin en als club. Een jaar met veel veranderingen, veel vooruitgang, ik ben ervan overtuigd dat we ons als club goed ontwikkelen, en
kijk terug op een heel geslaagd seizoen:
Internationale toernooien
We zijn dit jaar gastclub geweest van 2 internationale toernooien. De Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier, en de heren T20 Europe World Qualifier. Vooral bij de women’s T20 hebben wij als club
zowel de ICC als de KNCB in positieve zin verrast door onze betrokkenheid en door de grote groep vrijwilligers. Ook het grasteam verdiende een extra pluim voor de wedstrijd- en oefenpitches!
Coaches
We zagen de eerste impact van het aantreden van Usman Malik als hoofdcoach, met vooral een verandering in ambitie en onze sport attitude. We zijn erg tevreden over de samenwerking met
Usman en zetten de samenwerking graag voort zodat hij samen met de TC ook de juiste tijd krijgt om zijn doelen te realiseren. Verder hadden we een mooi team van coaches en trainers afgelopen seizoen: Usman, Dirk, Bavvik, Mike, Ashwani, Prashant, Pierre, Mees, Sean en Ratha. Bedankt voor al jullie inzet!
Faciliteiten
De accommodatie blijft in ontwikkeling. We zijn dit jaar gezamenlijk goed in staat geweest om onze faciliteiten op orde te houden. Op klusdagen is er hard gewerkt, maar ook door het hele seizoen
heen. Als bestuur hebben we zelf ook behoorlijk de handen uit de mouwen gestoken. We hebben begin dit jaar een nieuwe internet straalverbinding aangelegd. Na wat opstartproblemen
lijkt het nu goed te functioneren. De lockers zijn dit jaar deel gerealiseerd. Om het voor elkaar te krijgen heb ik de stellingkast zelf in elkaar gezet (met wat hulp van Tijmen, dank je!). Op deze manier hebben we tegen lage kosten een aardig opslagsysteem opgezet. Tassen kunnen nu in ieder geval droog en ordelijk worden opgeslagen. Omdat de compartimenten nog niet individueel afsluitbaar zijn, kan dat nu nog kosteloos, op eigen risico. Volgend seizoen volgt een upgrade tot echte lockers, die zullen dan worden verhuurd.
De website is dit jaar vernieuwd. Het ziet er mooi uit, en aan de inhoud wordt nu hard gewerkt om dat allemaal bij te werken voor komend seizoen.
ClubCollect is in gebruik genomen dit jaar. De eerste ervaringen met ClubCollect zijn naar onze mening erg goed.
We hadden midden in ons seizoen gedurende 5 weken een alcoholverbod vanwege een ontoereikende horecavergunning. Dit heeft vooral zijn weerslag gehad op Floris, maar ook voor de
club was het even pas op de plaats. Natuurlijk zijn alcohol en sport niet onlosmakelijk verbonden en dat zou ook niet zo moeten zijn. Niettemin ben ik blij dat de vergunning nu op orde is. Op de
naleving zullen we nu strenger moeten zijn.
Jeugdcricket
De jeugd groeit, en er is ook weer groei vanuit de jongste jeugd. Het blijft wel een uitdaging om het juiste aanbod te blijven geven, maar ik zie daar heel goede ontwikkelingen. Hoe meer jeugd, hoe
beter de toekomst van onze club.
Damescricket
Er is dit jaar veel tijd en energie gestoken in het behoud van het damescricket. We hadden dit jaar een damesteam dat deelnam aan de T20 competitie. Komend jaar is het weer zaak om een
damesteam op te zetten en te behouden. Damescricket nu een speerpunt van de ICC en de KNCB. Als Kampong willen we hier zeker deel van blijven uitmaken en ons daarvoor inzetten. De
voorbereidingen zijn nu al in gang gezet door Dirk, Floris, Sean en Sebastian.
Op naar 2019: gekleurde kleding, witte bal en zwarte screens
De KNCB heeft voorgesteld om in de competities gekleurde kleding gefaseerd in te voeren: in 2019 wordt het gebruik van gekleurde kleding, een witte bal en zwarte screens ingevoerd voor de
Topklasse, Hoofdklasse en Eerste klasse. Voor alle andere competities geldt een overgangsfase. In 2021 moet alles over zijn. Als bestuur zijn wij van mening dat we ook de jeugd naar gekleurde
kleding willen overzetten. Op de ALV van 25 november zal de aanpak met de leden worden besproken.
Dus, op naar 2019!

Dear cricketers,
We’ve had a very good year, in sports and as a club. A year with lots of changes, and lots of progress, I am convinced that we are developing well as a club, and look back on a very successful season:
International tournaments
We have hosted 2 international tournaments this year. The Womens T20 World Cup Qualifier, and the Mens T20 Europe World Qualifier. Especially at the Womens T20 we have, both the ICC and the KNCB were positive struck by our involvement and by the large group of volunteers. The grass team also earned multiple compliments for the grass wicket and practice pitches!
Coaches
We have experienced the first impact of Usman Malik taking his role as head coach, creating a change in ambition and sports attitude. We are very pleased with the cooperation with Usman and
we are keen to continue the cooperation so that he and the TC have the right time to realize their goals.
We also had a good team of coaches and trainers last season: Usman, Dirk, Bavvik, Mike, Ashwani, Prashant, Pierre, Mees, Sean and Ratha. Thank you for all your efforts!
Facilities
The accommodation is continuously under development. This year we have jointly been able to keep our facilities in order. People worked hard on the ‘klusdagen’, but also throughout the season. As a board, we rolled up our sleeves just as much. At the beginning of this year we have installed a new internet beam connection. After some start-up
problems, it now seems to work well.
The lockers have been realized this year. In order to get it done, I have put the rack together myself (with some help from Tijmen, thank you!). This way we have been able set up a nice storage system at low cost. Kits can now at least be stored in a dry and orderly fashion. The compartments can not yet be locked individually, so use still free of charge and at own risk. Next season there will be an upgrade to real lockers, which can be rented.
The website has been renewed this year. It looks great, and currently the content is being fully updated for the coming season.
ClubCollect has been initiated for use this year. The first experiences with ClubCollect are, in our opinion, very good.
We had an alcohol ban in the middle of our season for 5 weeks due to an inadequate licence. This mainly had an impact on Floris, but also for the club it was felt as a setback. Of course, alcohol and sports are not inextricably linked and that should not be the case. Nevertheless, I am glad that the licence is now settled again. We will now have to be stricter on compliance.
Youth Cricket
The youth department is growing, and there is also growth in the very young age group. It remains a challenge to continue to give the right offer, but I see very good developments there. The more
youth, the better the future of our club.
Women’s cricket
This year a lot of time and effort has been invested in maintaining women's cricket. We had a women’s team this year that participated in the T20 competition. Next year it is important to
maintain our Womens team. Ladies cricket now in focus of the ICC and the KNCB. As Kampong, we want to continue to be part of this and we want to put our best efforts into it. The preparations have already been started by Dirk, Floris, Sean and Sebastian.
Towards 2019: coloured clothing, white balls and black screens
The KNCB has proposed to introduce coloured clothing in the competitions, but in phases: in 2019 the use of coloured clothing, a white ball and black screens will be introduced for the Topklasse,
Hoofdklasse and Eerste klasse. A transitional phase applies to all other competitions. In 2021 all classes have to switched. As a board, we propose to also switch the youth to coloured clothing. At
the General Assembly of November 25th, the approach will be discussed with the members.
