If you had stepped into the Cricket Pavilion last Tuesday night you would’ve seen serious faces, heard a lot of applause and felt a positive vibe. It was the Kampong Cricket General Members Meeting. While we’re looking forward to the full minutes of meeting, here’s the alternative summary of the evening.

Why the serious faces?

We had serious things to discuss.

The impact of corona on our season and club for instance. Which is obviously substantial. But with a lot of hard work in the background, a lot of ingenuity and a lot of energy and support from all our members Kampong Cricket is in good shape. Also financially.

Judging by the percentage share of pages covered with numbers in the total documentation of the meeting and the rather economical font size used in a screened budget Excel sheet, finance is a serious subject too. No questions asked. Audit Committee happy. Job well done by our treasurer.

Why the applause?

There were quite some people to thank for their hard work for the club.

Sander for his 6 years as treasurer handing over club finances in good shape, earning him the status of Member of Merit. Floris for pushing the Kampong Cricket Campus project and managing to increase sponsor income in this corona affected year. Dirk for his years of service as club secretary and role in developing the club to where we are now. Mark and Marc for the unbelievable amount of time and effort they put into the preparation and maintenance of our pitches. Abhinav for making the Kampong Premier League possible and a success. Gerhard for creating our very own Kampong Cricket app – Got it yet? No? Check it out. And of course a big thank you to Ulrich for leading the pack beautifully.

And we also have people to encourage.

Ashwani as a new member of the board for youth affairs. Guido as a new member of the board for communication affairs. Chantal as new member of the board and club secretary. Eelko as (re)new(ed) member of the board and club treasurer. Gerhard as our new match secretary. Go go go!

And you as our new…… Seriously, the club could use your help. Check out how and get in touch.

How come the positive vibe?

There’s a lot of energy at Kampong Cricket. It’s buzzing. We’ve welcomed a lot of new members. Training sessions are well attended. Busy even. Usman bringing a lot of energy there. And then there is KPL! Almost everyone in the club involved, beautiful logo’s, ugly shirts, exciting matches and a nice bit of banter.

Let’s keep it up!

The sound of the chairman’s hammer. The end of a short but sweet GMM.
