Dear cricketers,

The summer season is coming to an end, with a few more matches to go. I’m looking back on a season like never before, a season in which we never knew what to expect next.

The season
With the investment and construction of the new training cages, the corona virus could not have chosen a worse timing. Getting the club to survive financially was the first priority at the beginning of this year. With a lot of work and attention in the background, we got through the corona crisis and I even feel that we have emerged stronger.
The alternative season turned out to be very successful. As soon as it was possible to play internal matches, the Kampong Premier League was set up. This turned out to be a great success. Later we also participated in the KNCB competition, a combination that we will also see next year.

The club
During the season I saw a cohesion, commitment, willingness to help and positive energy – higher than ever before. An unexpected side effect of the corona crisis perhaps, but something that I would love to hold on to for the coming seasons.
The member count has increased massively this year, having around 160 members in recent years, it is now approaching 200. A very pleasant fact, but also a puzzle how we can optimally offer cricket for everyone next year.

What’s next?

Training
Although we will officially no longer have fields available from 1st September, we can continue to train. The new training cage makes it possible to continue training with more space than before. So for now, training will continue as usual. We will not be using the halls in Galgenwaard this winter, we want to make maximum use of the new cages. If it gets too cold, we will have to take a break until we can continue early next year.

Lighting cages
The training cages will be equipped with powerful LED lighting in the week of September 28th. The nets have to be removed in the weekend before, anyone who can help is very welcome.

Pitch
You have undoubtedly seen the enormous amount of clay on the bicycle platform. The pitch will shortly undergo major maintenance; it will be raised and broadened. I am convinced that the grass team will succeed in delivering another top-quality pitch for next season.

Board
Like each year, before the season ends, we are already making plans for the next season. With current status the club, it is necessary to look further; what are we going to do with our club in the next 3 years? Having increased the board since this year, I am convinced we can grow this club to great heights!

Kind regards,
