The Dutch national men’s cricket team will play three ODI’s against Ireland on the 2nd, 4th and 7th of June at Kampong Cricket in Utrecht. The matches are part of the “Cricket World Super League”, an important tournament leading up to the 2023 World Cup.

The Cricket World Cup Super League is assured of international media exposure with the 12 best cricket countries of the world competing. The Netherlands earned the 13th and final spot in the league by winning the ICC World Cricket League Championship back in 2017.

The icing on the cake of the matches at Kampong: for the first time in cricket history, cricket will broadcast live on Dutch television via Ziggo Sport. KNCB announced the deal in April. Ziggo will also broadcast the matches on its YouTube channel.

The deal not only makes the accessible for all cricket lovers in the Netherlands, but also to a broader audience even though there will be no spectators at the Kampong Cricket ground due to the pandemic.

Thanks to an ambitious vision, significant investment in facilities and a great deal of time and effort of numerous volunteers, Kampong Cricket has undergone a true transformation over the last decade. As a result, the facilities have been suitable for international cricket of the highest level since 2019.

From the end of May, the Kampong Cricket grounds in Utrecht will be converted into an international arena with 16 cameras around the field. Together with the KNCB a total of 40 volunteers from the club will make sure the event runs smoothly.
