The Kampong Cricket Captain’s Dinner took place on Saturday the 19th of March in our pavilion. Fantastic to see so many members together for a great night!

It took some getting used to after such a long time of social distancing. But what a night it was. Just like the old days with lots and lots of speeches, good food, a nice drink and the ever present Kampong family vibe. I’ll save you the full transcript of the  speeches, let’s stick to a few special mentions.

Member of merit
During the GMM in February of last year, Ulrich Oron officially stepped down as chairman of Kampong Cricket. With almost 4 years of dedication Ulrich played a huge role in the development of the club. A huge thank you on behalf of the whole club for your time, effort and responsibility. Already announced in last year’s online GMM, those two words – thank you – were made official by appointing Ulrich as Member of Merit of Kampong Cricket. Finally in person, Ulrich was handed the Member of Merit coin.

Honors boards
The honors boards are for centuries and five-wicket hauls on our main field. No centuries there in the 2021  season, but there’s one man who took apart the Olympia batting line-up for Kampong 2. Congratulations to Saurabh Zalpuri for his 8 for 13, including a hat-trick.

J.G. de Bruin award
The J.G. de Bruin award is for the best performance in a single match or in the season as a whole. Out of 8 nominees, the award for best performance goes to Kertan Nana for an amazing season with the ball. Topping the Hoofdklasse bowling table with his 19 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 9.26 and an economy rate of 3.14. Well done Kertan!

Volunteer of the year award
We are fortunate there’s a whole lot of people who invest a great deal of their time and energy in the club. And maybe it’s not even fair to try and compare these efforts. Nevertheless, we did. Out of 4 nominations, the volunteer of the year award for 2021 goes to all scorers. The scorers blend in with the teams nicely, so their effort might go a bit unnoticed. But they are an integral part of the success of our teams on a weekly basis, home and away. Thank you and congratulations to Noor, Claire, Louann, Muneera and Karlijne!
